You're Not Starting Over — You're Starting Aligned

Somewhere along the way, someone decided that a marriage or relationship ending meant "starting over." As if everything before this point gets wiped clean, and you're left standing at zero.

I want to offer you something different.

You are not starting over.

You're starting "aligned", many people spend years building a life on the version of themselves that was easiest to love, easiest to keep the peace as, easiest to fit. When that relationship ends, what actually happens isn't loss down to zero.

It's a return.

You're not building from nothing; you're building from "you" — the version that got quieted, negotiated away, or simply lost track of herself somewhere in the compromise.

That distinction matters, because it changes what you're actually doing right now.

Starting from zero:

feels like pressure. Like you have to figure it all out, fast, and get it right this time.

Starting aligned:

feels like listening. It asks a completely different question — not "what should my life look like now?" but "what actually feels true, now that I'm the one deciding?"

**A practice for this week** Notice, over the next few days, the small moments where you catch yourself about to default to what you *used to* choose — the show you'd watch because he liked it, the way you'd phrase things to keep things smooth, the plans you'd make around someone else's preferences. You don't need to change anything yet. Just notice. That noticing is the beginning of coming back to yourself.

  • You're not behind.

  • You're not broken.

  • You're not starting from nothing.

You're coming home to someone you've been away from for a while — and she's been waiting.

If this is where you are, I'd love to help you find your way back to her.
